How to add value to your home - no.1

When it comes to selling or renting your biggest asset you will no doubt want to maximise the amount you can achieve.  From my experience this can be done within a budget and if you are handy with a screwdriver without the need for expensive builders.

Over the next few weeks I will recommend some key ways in increasing value and improving the selling power of your property.

Wooden Floors - generally wooden floors can be much easier to maintain, clean and most importantly keep dust to a minimum.  Buyers and tenants alike more often than not prefer wooden floors to carpet.

You don’t have to spend a fortune on solid wooden floors with modern laminate flooring a very viable option and usually more hardwearing.

But before taking a trip to your local supplier it may be worth taking up some of your existing carpet, you may be lucky enough to discover some original wooden floor boards.  If you do discover wood underneath your carpet then sanding down and applying a coat of lacquer could create a beautiful result at a very low cost.
